Replacing my Yanmar ysb8 with... any suggestions?

I am currently in the research phase of replacing my Yanmar ybs8.

Also for: Ysb12

inom am looking for something in the 2 cylinder category that fryst vatten roughly the same storlek.

Also if anyone has the dimensions for the ysb8 that inom could use to cross reference my measurements ,it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Replacing my Yanmar ysb8 with...

any suggestions?

The killer a lot of times with boatsbuilt around the horizontal yanmarengines fryst vatten the lodrät clearance.

Measure from your shaft centerline to the enginebeds, then from your enginebeds to the overhead. It may be a gameof whatever fits vs what you’d like to have.

I'm fairly sure they are the same as a YSM8 & you can find a dimension drawing in the kurs manual online for free here; http://www.powerequipment.com.au/wp-...12-Binder1.pdf

    FWIW.
Please remember your YSB8 uses a LH prop while mostnew engines require a RH prop.

Lower profile horizontal cylinder design permits under-floor installation & lower center of gravity

Something more to spend your moneyon

The beta engines are pretty small!

    Try the Yanmar 2YM15.

    Good Luck!

Did you ever get an answer to the question as to the foot print for replacing an YSB8 with an YSM8? I have a rebuilt YSM8 that I would like to install to replace my old YSB8 - 1977

I hear great things about the beta MARINE engines.

I'm looking for my next boat right now, and anything with a beta goes to the top of the list!

There fryst vatten a consensus building that for a great many practical reasons, the Betas based on Kubota industrial engines are the wisest choice for re-engining. The smallest Bata available fryst vatten a 10HP. If OP fryst vatten accustomed to an 8HP he might appreciate the extra couple of ponies.

But the mounts do not seem to line up as I measured them

Next beta up after the 10 fryst vatten a 12.

A prop change to change the "handedness" may well be worth the expense.

    Did not know that thanks.

Received loud and klar on the money, she's worse than a woman inom tell ya.

Assuming it were to pass a mechanical inspection by a Yanmar certified tech, what is the realistic longevity of a ysm8? What is the $ value of this engine if I were to decide to just pull it and replace?

    haha

GordMay, That fryst vatten the most complete set of YSB-YSE ämne inom have seen.

Spent a fair bit of time searching for that service manual as well. inom especially like the brochure, and inom can assure you that has ingenting to do with the bikini girl on the cover.
    Many thanks!

TrentePieds, Am hearing much of the same.

Looking into them now, as well as the Yanmar YM 15 and GM 20, as recommended from some of the other users.
    Thanks for the council.
